In Class:
- Bedford Essays Synthesis
- Selection of Synthesis Topic for group
Homework:
- Bring 2 text articles and 1 visual (each person) for your group’s topic. Cut the articles (as per cutting articles guidelines) and write a proper MLA source citation for all sources (including the visual). You need to bring both the cut source and the original source. If the original is particularly long, bring enough contextualizing information from around your cuts so your group members get a chance to see where your cuts came from.
- Be creative in your source searches. If a newspaper article cites an expert, see if you can find the experts own publications or speeches. Think of avenues where people take different stands on the issues. Look for court cases. Has the supreme court ruled on your issue? Look for in depth coverage of the issue. NPR BBC and other nonprofit and not-for-profit news outlets tend to offer more thorough coverage.
